Ever since I was a kid, I’ve been fascinated by how the brain works. That fascination began the day my little sister, Rose, was born with only half of hers.

After being born with spina bifida and suffering a severe stroke, she was left with just one functioning hemisphere of her brain.

Her neurologist handed our family a long list of things she’d never be able to do. But as Rose fought through years of physical and cognitive therapy, I watched her brain literally rewire itself.

Rose didn’t just learn to walk. She became a runner on her high school track team.

Watching Rose’s brain adapt in ways no one thought possible is what drives my passion for understanding neuroscience and applying it to create meaningful change in the work I do at Braintrust today.
