With a span of over two decades of experience in the pharmaceutical and biotech industry, my journey as a leader is deeply influenced by my roots and upbringing. I grew up in Lafayette, a small and vibrant Creole town nestled in South Central Louisiana. My mother, Marion, raised my four sisters and me as a single parent, and although we didn’t have much in terms of material wealth, we were rich in values.

My mom embodied resilience and unwavering dedication as she worked tirelessly- holding two jobs – cooking in a hospital kitchen and university cafeteria. The comforting aroma of food clinging to her clothes was a constant reminder of her sacrifices to provide for our family. But beyond her hard work, she was our family’s rock, instilling in us the values of faith, compassion, self-respect, and the importance of showing up for each other.

Her “Marionisms”; or nuggets of wisdom, still echo in my heart. She taught us that success begins with strong values, hard work and a heart full of love. Thanks to her belief in the power of education, I became the first in our family to earn a college degree, graduating with a double major in microbiology and medical technology—a milestone for our family.

In addition to my love for science I excelled in the arts (drama and debate). These experiences taught me the importance of critical thinking, leadership, curiosity, and creative expression—all qualities that continue to influence my approach to problem-solving and collaboration.

I witnessed “servant leadership” in action long before the corporate world adopted the term—it was embodied every day by my mom.

Marion led with compassion, strength, and an unwavering commitment to the well-being of others, values that profoundly influenced my approach to leadership. Inspired by her example, I strive to lead my teams with the same heart and intention, focusing on collaboration, empowerment, and fostering a shared sense of purpose.

Whether I’m coaching, mentoring, or driving strategic goals, I aim to create an environment where others feel supported, valued, and equipped to thrive. My work is anchored by the same principles my mother lived by-faith, responsibility, and a steadfast dedication to uplifting those around me. Through this lens, I view leadership not just as a position but as an opportunity to serve and inspire.
